Testing begins on Monday, May 14, 2012. To help parents and students become familiar with the STAR program, please visit http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/resources.asp. Here you will find links to released test questions for your child’s specific grade level and subject area, as well as, a parent guide to the STAR Program. Check out www.starsamplequestions.org for examples of released test questions.
No matter how big or how small the test, testing time can be a stressful time for our students. Here are some helpful ways to prepare your child for testing:
- The night before, please make sure your child gets to bed early and is well rested.
- Ensure that you child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make him/her groggy or high sugar foods that may make them hyper.
- Arrive to school on time (8:25am) and prepared.
- Keep a positive attitude about the test.
- Students and parents should talk about the importance of testing and stress the value of trying their best without putting too much pressure on the student.
Our goal is to make the testing period as smooth and stress free for our students as possible. Please make sure your child arrives to school on time as testing will begin at 8:40am daily, as well as, schedule appointments outside of the testing window. Click here for the STAR testing schedule. With your support I know that we can achieve success on the STAR test!
